The day has finally come! I finally get to share with you a
new die set being released by Spellbinders! J I hope you have enjoyed all the fabulous designs so
far that the Spellbinders designers have created for your viewing pleasure…I
sure have. It amazes me what these gals come up with!! If you were not
following the Blog Frenzy last summer, here's the scoop:
Spellbinders is celebrating their fifth anniversary with
sixteen days of sneak peeks and drawings for each of the die templates that is
introduced, culminating in a grand prize drawing for all 28 of the newly
introduced die templates. For the remainder of the sixteen days of
give-aways, you will have a chance to see new die template releases at a
different blog (schedule below) and enter a random drawing for that release.
Since it is a progressive release, Spellbinders is adding the die templates
that were already released on all the previous blob reveals. You also still
have until 11:59 pm CST, January 16th to enter Beth Pingry’s Blog,
“Cookies for Breakfast”
to win her release.
Here are the remaining designers who will be revealing new
die templates and what dates you can see the new dies being used on their
blogs.

Spellbinders S4-193 Peony
(MSRP - $24.99)
When I first saw this die I was so excited to play around
with it! I thought I would do a little research on the internet to see what a
real peony looked like…I had a pretty good idea but wanted to be sure…some of
the images I found were astounding! The one thing that really stuck out to me
was the fluffy softness of peonies in real life. So I instantly thought about
what material other than cardstock I could use to create my release project. I
found a great site with tons of different colors of Crepe Paper and placed an
order hoping it would work! I found it worked great when shimmed with a layer
cardstock and I was in business! So once I had figured out what material I
wanted to use to create some peonies, I had to figure out what I was actually
going to create as the final project…and that was when the idea of a Peony Pen
Bouquet came to me.
Here is a step-by-step tutorial on
how I created my Peony Pen Bouquet.
To get started you will need:
Spellbinders S4-193 Peony
Spellbinders S4-158 Sunflower Set Two
Crepe Paper in assorted colors (I ordered mine through D. Blumchen & Company)
Spring Willow Medium Prismatics Cardstock
Scrap Cardstock (used for shimming and will be thrown away once used)
Craft Wire
Large Needle or Paper Piercer, Paper Piercing Pad
Floral Tape (can be found at any craft store in the silk floral area)
Mono Adhesive by TomBow
Bic Pen (or other smooth barreled pen of your choice)
Flower Pot & Rice (optional)
And my second project for today is a fun “out of the box” way to use the Peony dies! I used the largest die in the set to create these little baskets. Aren’t they sweet? Just imagine the possibilities these little treat holders could be used for! Any color, any paper you like! I don’t want to overwhelm you today so I will upload a step-by-step tutorial on this sweet little basket tomorrow so you can see how it is done!
If you do not own a Wizard Die
Cutting System, don’t lose heart! You can still use Spellbinders fabulous
Universal Dies!!! Here is the link to
show you how!
