Using Acrylic Paint - Butterfly Topiary

As some of you know I write for Scrap & Stamp Arts Magazine. I usually do technique articles, and sometimes I do a product / manufacturer spotlight article. I love to write and I love to teach and so these are kind of the best of both worlds for me. One I get to pick what I write about and usually I teach something in my articles! LOL Anyway, back in March I wrote about using acrylic paint on your projects. I love to use paint to add dimension and texture! NOTE: Be sure to wash your stamps AS SOON AS YOU ARE DONE with the paint!!! (Ask me how I know the importance of this one!)
For this card, I only used acrylic paint as my final layer of stamping. It allowed me to keep the detail needed for the first layers of my main image, as well as add a bit of dimension and texture to the top layer. And before the paint fully dried I added a bit of extra sparkle by sprinkling on some colored glitter. Enjoy!

I just learned that on Saturday my dear friend Mary tripped in her garage and was injured...it is not so serious that she was hospitalized but she has some fractures etc...and I thought INSTANTLY of this sweet Get Well Teddy Set by Kitchen Sink Stamps. So I whipped up this quick card and will have it in the mail today...tell me, Isn't he PERFECT for this occasion???? :)

Get Well Teddy Tutorial

So many of you had wondered about the Get Well Teddy and couldn't believe it was a stamp or wrap your mind around how it works so I did up a really quick little tutorial to show you step by step! :) Enjoy!!

Inks Used - Adirondack Inks in Lemonade, Latte, Mushroom & Pitch Black.

Step One - Impression One
Stamp the first impression in your lightest color. Here I used Lemonade...You don't have to use monochromatic colors necessarily, just use something complimentary and light in nature.

Step Two - Impression Two
Stamp step two image in Latte. Don't worry if you think it looks like a mess....it will until you add the next few "detail layers".

Step Three - Impression Three
Stamp step three in Mushroom. Note the detail starting to come out?

Step Four - Impression Four
Stamp step four in Pitch Black ink. This gives that really 3-D look that looks so "perfect" each time...isn't it amazing??? Take your finished image to create your card or other project! :)

Another Get Well Teddy Card

Well I don't really ever seem to need "get well cards" because by the time I would make and send the card the person needing it would be better! LOL But I have had first my friends DH (See last nights post) and then my neighbor had to have surgery...so I actually NEEDED to make up a few get well cards! So I am glad I had this new Kitchen Sink Stamps Get Well Teddy set!!! :)  Isn't he CUTE???

Tonight I decided it was time to do a bit of cooking with my Kitchen Sink Stamps using the new stamp set called Get Well Teddy. Isn't this a cute little image??? Well my friend's husband was body surfing on vacation last month and took a header and had to have emergency on his shoulder after planting himself soundly on to the beach!! EEK!!! So I knew I wanted to make him a card...I just didn't think it would take me THREE WEEKS LONGER THAN HOPED! LOL  Enjoy!!!

Well seeing as I am guest designing for Kitchen Sink Stamps this month I thought it was high time I shared with you another creation using the new set Pretty Tear Drops. This time I used them to make a butterfly image!!! :) And I used the little polka dots to create the fun background you see! :) Enjoy!

Geesh...you guys, I haven't uploaded a scrap page in ages and here I am doing three in a week! LOL Don't get used to it! ok? hahahhaha

Anyway as Guest Designer for Kitchen Sink Stamps this month I thought I would see what I could do with the stamp sets they sent that would make them "out of the box" types of images! So for this one I used the new set Pretty Tear Drops and created a sweet little flower. Isn't it fun?? I have taken a few pics along the way and will hopefully upload a mini tutorial tomorrow!!! :) Enjoy!!

Some fun news...and a project!

Summer Penguins!!!!

Well this little card was just too much fun!

I was given this main image by my friend Mary. And I loved it instantly!!! So of course I had to put him to good use...but he was just a single image so I looked through my other sentiments and this one from Gina K's You are my sunshine set was PERFECT! You can only get the You are my Sunshine set this month for free when you buy three sets....but once you check out her newest stuff...I don't think that will be a problem! LOL Then for the striped background paper I used my Plaids Plus set from Kitchen Sink Stamps...isn't it fun! I am loving this one!!! Enjoy!
