I think I have taken it upon myself to create atleast one very masculine layout with each month's kit...even if the kit is filled with delightfully girly papers and embellishments like this month's kit "Summer of Love".


I had a few really old photos of my little brothers playing ball and this shot was one I have always wanted to scrap...well the striped side of the Webster's Pages paper and the beautiful gray card stock in the kit was perfect to pull this layout together. I simply cut 1.5" squares and rotated the stripes each time I laid one down so that they weren't going in the same direction.


I used the Heidi Swapp Clear Extras and just added a bit of paint to the back to help the sentiment stand out just a bit from the dark BG card stock.

Hey all!

I have a super fun layout to share with you that uses this month's Pixie Dust Paperie Kit: Summer of Love.

I love the color combination of black and white and one other color. This month's kit "Summer of Love" has a great HOT PINK flair that just made this layout POP with excitement! Between the color combo, the textures and the other fun embellishments I love how this one came out!





Even though an all white title would have worked out just fine, I decided to alter the letters of my title by using my Copic Airbrush System and then shaking on some glitter to make black glittery letters. Aren't they fun? This is just one more reason to LOOOOOVE this month's kit! Enjoy!

 

Life here has been hectic, running to FL to celebrate my little brother's highschool graduation and then throwing myself headlong into getting ready for my church's annual Mission Charleston. I head up the afternoon VBS portion so I have been a busy little bee since coming home a month ago just trying to get everything planned and ready. Next week is VBS then I get THE REST OF THE SUMMER to hang out and will be making some fun projects! :D Tee hee hee, so hang in there gang.... fun times are a coming!

Pixie Dust Paperie: Just Us Layout

I have a few projects that I didn't have time to blog for my April Kit over at Pixie Dust Paperie. I hope you all don't get too sick of my layouts. It seems that I do ALOT more scrapping than I had prior to being asked to this team. A good thing for me, but if you are coming here looking for alot of stamping as in time's past you may be disappointed...but don't worry we are working on doing a bit of stamping & JEWELRY once again soon! :)

For me, date night with only ONE of my children doesn't happen all too often. However last year we were given two tickets to see Disney On Ice Princess Wishes and I was able to dress up my own little princess and go out... "Just Us". It was a magical time for both of us. I loved how the papers here from April's Kit,  Country Farm Stand,  really worked with this photo! I would never have picked them out to go with this photo but once I saw the washed out background of the photo and the soft light background to this paper it was just a match made in heaven!


Using just a little bit of fabric can add a HUGE new dimension to any project. Adding a scrunched layer behind these two little flowers really made them "POP!" off the page.

 

Pixie Dust Paperie : Handsome Fella Layout

I feel that so many times scrapbooking kits are very "bits n pieces oriented" and that people have a hard time just setting out to keep it clean and graphic. I wanted to showcase how using just a tiny bit of patterned paper, a TON of card stock a few well placed brads can still showcase a wonderful fun and "pulled together" layout. Enjoy!!

 

 

 

Pixie Dust Paperie: Sheer Joy Layout

One thing that being on the Pixie Dust Paperie team has helped me with is to get a few of my all time favorite photos scrapped in a whole new light, as well as to get to a few of those "going to be scrapped one day" photos off of my workspace. These three photos fall into the last bracket. I loved how I was able to use all three on this layout and that they really tell the story of how happy we were when our sweet little girl was born. Using alternating patterns, frilly ruffled ribbon and die cut strips along with the flower embellishments and my altered architectual piece, all found in the May Kit, I was able to create balance and interest with out overwhelming my focal point, my photos. Enjoy!

 

Pixie Dust Paperie: May Sketch Challenge

This month over at Pixie Dust Paperie we have a super cool Sketch Challenge going on! While you don't have to use this month's kit I highly suggest you order one and have some fun playing with all the AMAZING trinkets you will find inside!! I had fun whipping up this layout using a few different goodies from the kit, and a bit of paint and the bottom of a water bottle that I just happened to have sitting on my workspace! Go figure, right? I applied dark brown paint to the bottom of the water bottle then stamped the bottle onto the top left of my layout to kinda add a bit of contrast to my papers and embellishments. Hey, you "go green" when you can, right??? LOL Enjoy!

My Love Layout

When I got my package for this month's Pixie Dust Paperie Kit I was kinda thrown by this yellow ledger paper patterned paper...it was kinda "not my style" so to speak...but then I came across this photo of my love with all the yellow flowers in the background and I thought "I have just the right paper for that photo!!" So I whipped up this VERY SIMPLE layout. I liked how I was able to use "girly supplies" and turned it into a more "manly" layout. :) Adding just a hint of pinkish red to the artisan scroll piece helped tie in all of different elements and gave the entire page a "grounded" effect. Finding out it's harder than I thought...

TO GET BACK TO NORMAL! LOL

After having been gone for a month from home it's far harder than I thought it would be to get back into a normal schedule. First off, the seasons have changed and we are full fledged into "summer weather" here in SC. Which means in the month we were gone the time came and went for the "clothing switcharoo" and now that we are home  I needed to get some more summer clothes for the girls and I need to go through all of the kids clothes and reorganize their closest with weather appropriate clothing....whew that is an on going chore...

I was also sick for a few days (as in not getting out of bed and all my joints ached sick...NOT FUN) so not  much got done!

BUT I still have TONS of projects to share with you from this month's Pixie Dust Paperie Kit! I am telling you, if you have never bought a kit online, TRY IT! SUCHHH a great deal and it's so fun to get all of your papers, embellishments and ribbons all coordinated into a fun tidy little package. It's like Christmas when my box arrives. This month's kit, La Dolce Vita, is DELISH...tons of fun colors, nifty alterable embellishments and more!

One thing I love about scrapping layouts is that I am always reminded of memories...photos of times past that meant enough for me to capture them in the moment, and want to savor them afterwards. This layout is just such a time! Lily Kate was looking so cute and sweet with her fluffy shirt and matching hairbow that I just had to snag the camera and photograph her! The fact that Ad was in the BG to me was perfect because I think LK looks more like Adam than the other kids do...so it's was kinda like a "tribute page" to her as well as to him. :) Enjoy!

 

 

Sweet Sisters Layout

Well here I am back again with another layout to share. I have found that this kit has SO MANY OPTIONS. Talk about a variety of styles and color choices. For this layout I decided to go super simple with the color scheme. I felt the papers all lent themselves to making an airy open statement. Seriously, how adorable is this photo? It is one of my favorite photos of my girls and I must have scrapped it atleast three times for various layouts! LOL


For added oomph I used a coordinating ink to darken the edges of the entire page as well as just the tips of the rosette trim that runs along the bottom of the photo. I also thought that by clustering the embellishments I was able to make a much bolder statement than if I had just kinda placed them around the page some how else. Enjoy!

Pixie Dust Paperie: Sketch Challenge

Today over at Pixie Dust Paperie Blog there is a sketch challenge. And while I don't have this month's kit, I thought I would play along anyway, it's a great sketch. Head on over and check it out, Kirsty always has AWESOME prizes for those that participate! I had all these papers and stickers from a line of paper from Doodlebug Design that I was given for having a card published in CARDS magazine. I knew I would get around to using it, I just needed the right push! LOL The "thickers" are from an old set by American Crafts and I just had to have them when I saw them...they are FABRIC covered chipboard...talk about FUN!
