Misc Monday: Wherever You Go...

I am on vacation this week. We are spending the week at a peaceful lake in central FL. The weather is to die for and I have to say, I needed this break...I thought about showing you a pic but thought...will they be too jealous?? Simple Sunflowers Card

Today I just have a really simple card for you. Again from the April Kit Country Farm Stand at Pixiedust Paperie. I decided to “age” nearly everything I put my hands on just a bit with a little touch of ink. I inked the beautiful golden crinkled seam binding, the tag edges, the paper edges and even the scrap of fabric I used. To add a bit more interest I also decided to fray the edges of my fabric. To add just a hint of “clean and fresh” to my finished project I decided to leave the delightful red and white baker’s twine as is and use three layers of it to really help it to stand out from the inked fabric scrap. Enjoy!

Miscellaneous Monday: Let's Do Lunch - Post It Note Holder

Tomorrow from 11:00AM - 1:00PM I will be at Charleston Scrapbooking doing my Tuesday "Let's Do Lunch" featurette. I would love it if you could come on out! Miscellaneous Monday: Sometimes I sew!

I have had a project on my to do list for nearly three months now! I had told my brother that I would make a baby sling for his newest baby and due to the baby being born just before Thanksgiving and then going right into the holiday busyness and then the CHA rush, not to mention magazine deadlines and other projects that have been requested, it has taken me a while to get it done! I often feel like it takes me until the end of FEBRUARY to ever get "back on track" with energy and schedule once all that jazz is done! LOL So today I decided it was HIGH TIME to whip myself into shape and tackle the Baby Sling.

Here's a goofy photo of me wearing it - Sorry I hadn't even gotten out of my work out gear for the day! LOL

All in all I have to say...I am really proud of this project and I really think it turned out just the way I had envisioned it to be! :) I hope you have enjoyed seeing a side of me you may not have seen before!

Back and designing a card for Card Positioning Systems that is!!! CPS is celebrating it's FOURTH ANNIVERSARY this week and Tami asked all us Alumni Designers if we would like to help celebrate and do up another card for the blog...I had a blast with this! Miscellaneous Monday: Going to be 90!!! Can you send a card?

My friend Sue over at Berkerblog would like to surprise her husband John with 90 cards for his 90th birthday! I have made two so far and will make two more. Then both myself and my three kiddos old enough to sign their names will send Mr. John some cards...we are hoping he does get 90 cards...how cool would that be? So here's the deal - I am offering a spur of the moment Blog Candy! And here's how it's going to work.... you commit to making John a card and leave me a comment telling me so (if you have it up on your blog already, add the link!). I will draw a name in ONE WEEK (Monday 2/7) and someone will win a prize pack from me! Now I just sorted through a ton of stuff in my studio and found I had PLENTY of fun goodies to share, so I will get a goodie pack together and post a pic in the next day or so. :) So, who's with me?? WOW...so not off to a good blogging start...am I?

I have to get back into the habit of regular posting...this two posts a month thing has just got to stop!!

This past weekend was a 36 hour crop at Charleston Scrapbooking. I have never gone to a crop to work, but this weekend I went and worked a bit! :) I decided it was time for some Springy styled cards...I really miss fun and happy colors right now. So I decided to use some Studio G stamps by Hampton Art Stamps...these fun little stamps come in a small package and are only 1.00 a set!!! I used two sets to create this card and just repeated my images accross the white strip on the front. I then colored the images using PrismaColor Colored Pencils and blended with Gamsol. A few embellishing type of finishing touches and I was done! While I know we are in the dead of winter right now, I just thought surely someone else out there yearns for a bit of Spring right along with me, so here you go, Enjoy!!

Miscellaneous Monday: Simple Autum Earrings

LIFE UPDATE:
Thankful...this month we focus on thankful.  And while I have much to be thankful for I found that lately I wasn't feeling all that thankful...nope...not a bit... I was feeling...overdone. Burned out. Burned out on life in general. I was sick of homeschooling and was feeling totally uninspired. I felt as though I was just schooling the kids because it needed to be done, not because I love teaching them. I was tired of creating because inevitably when I would create something, our "toddler tornado" would wreak havoc in some other location of the house and I would just end up frustrated that I couldn't even create unless I stayed up and burned the midnight oil...I was totally disinterested in blogging because I had nothing to share, unless you would have wanted to hear how fabulously interesting it is to clean up baking soda from the grout lines or peanut butter out of the dog's coat, or honey off the front windows (seemingly multiple times in an hour)....so I just couldn't blog, create or anything without feeling like I was doing it "because it had to be done"...I don't know about you but that to me sounds the alarm of a burned out momma!!! Soooo, I decided that once my DH got home from his latest mission I would take a few days off and get out of the house, it was time to get away and have a few days to just reflect, rejuvinate and get refreshed. It says in the Bible that God brings time of refreshing to our souls and that is just what I needed. I needed my soul refreshed. I was tired. So I packed my bags and went to visit my friend and fellow designer Niki Meiners. While there I was able to have time to think, time to rest, time to create (FOR FUN), time to just be.....I also took time to reevaluate everything that I was doing and realized that I just needed to add the fun back into the everday schedule. Not worry about so many boxes getting checked or lists being accomplished each day. I was in essence made fully aware that I had taken the fun out of the everday things by being overly expectant of what I was going to get done each day. Anyway, while there are tons of lessons that I learned and points that were taken while I had time away to think, the one thing I wanted to share with you was a blogging game plan. Niki has a feature on her blog called "Fast Friday" where between now and Christmas she plans on featuring a fast little gift or home decor item each Friday. Well that inspired me to get a list together of what each day could represent for me on my blog. So I asked Niki if I could borrow her Fast Friday idea and expand on it, she was more than willing to share!

If you plan on coming to my blog on any given day you will find each day has a theme and a purpose now! Yay! Now this doesn't mean I am going to all of a sudden be back to blogging everyday but when I do, there will be a title for each day and a "starting place" for me to get some inspiration from. So here's my list.

And if you are still with me through all this, today is Miscellaneous Monday and I have made a simple pair of Autumn Earrings to share. Made of Swarovski Crystals, Glass Tube Beads and Sterling Silver Spacer beads these earrings are sparkly and fun, but really a simple pair of earrings to make and wear. I hope you enjoy!
