City Crafter Challenge 45 - Nothing To It

This week I had the pleasure of being asked to guest design for the City Crafter Challenge Blog! :) This week's theme is - "Nothing to it".  The challenge was to make a single layer card, no layers, no embellishments, no nothing! So I got creative and this is what I came up with. I cut a piece of white cardstock 4.25x11 inches, folded it in half and die cut the front. I then left the die in place as I airbrushed around the outer edge. I then stamped on both sides of die cut area. Then I closed the card and stamped through the window onto the inside of the card. Finally I added the sentiment and my card was complete...no layers, no bellies...nothing to it! :)

Tuesday Techniques Talk: Stamping on "other" surfaces

I love challenging myself to see how I can incorporate my love for stamping into other areas of my crafting. Recently I have fallen in love with creating  jewelry...I mean head over heels in love with stepping outside the box and creating fun and unique jewelry pieces!!! Well tonight I was working with Italian Mesh Ribbon from Specialty Beads, and natural shell pendants...then I got the idea to "jazz it up" a bit by stamping onto the pendant! Don't you just love it? I used my new set from Layers of Color - Touch of Elegance. This set is so very versatile, I can tell it will be in my "often reached for" arsenal from here on. I chose some coordinating Swarovski Crystals and Pearls to add a bit of sparkle and shine, and finally chain and findings by Beadalon! Can't go wrong with that line up, can ya?

Okay so let's talk techniques. First of all, you need Stazon ink from Tsukineko for this project. I also highly recommend having a paper towel moistened with alcohol nearby. First clean the surface of your pendant with the alcohol. Next ink your image using Jet Black Stazon and stamp it onto the pendant. Remove CAREFULLY and set aside to dry. If your image doesn't come out how you had hoped simply wipe it clean before it has a chance to dry and start over. It's as simple as that! Blue & Brown Butterflies

Here's one more card that I did for the online crop over at Scrapbook Heaven this past weekend. I have had fun being challenged to create within specific guidelines the past few days. This one I really loved because I was able to use some stamps from Layers of Color that just arrived this weekend, and you know how much fun it is to create with new stamps for the very first time! :) I colored both the butterfly from the Flutterescent clear set and the Floweret cling stamp images using the Colored Pencil & Gamsol Technique. A really great technique that nearly anyone can do the first time they try! Enjoy!

 

Who you are layout

Good Morning!

I thought that today I would switch gears a bit and share a layout I finished yesterday. I am on a local store's design team and we each had to make a LO showcasing a photo of ourselves and our style. I thought about it and I really don't have a definitive style. Some days I am crisp and clean, others I am distressed and dirty!

However, I am usually technique oriented. I love using stamps, ink, paint, ribbon and other embellishments. On this layout I used all of those items and more!
