Well I have had this oh so cute DIY Upcycled Burlap Covered Tabletop Garbage Can craft tutorial for you for quite some time now. I just haven't made time to get it on my blog!
I meant to run the post yesterday (hence the "Fast Friday" in the title!) But here it is today, and who knows, if all goes as planned you might have another post from me today too! ;) So check back tonight!!
(This post is sponsored by AdTech Adhesives but all content and opinions are my own!)
As you can see the supplies needed are very minimal. I also used AdTech's Finger Guards, but they were already on my fingers when I took this photo! LOL
So first, I measured my can and cut the brown burlap to height and length needed. I then cut the white burlap into a heart shape and hot glued it to the front of the brown burlap just a touch off center to allow for the overlap in the back. I then outlined the heart with hot glue and covered it with copper colored glitter (the photo didn't turn out well but you will see the outcome in the final step - gah!)
Next I glued one edge of the burlap to the can.
Then I wrapped the burlap all the way around and glued the other edge to the can, overlapping just a bit. Here is where I find the finger guards VERY USEFUL. The hot glue doesn't stick to the guards and so when working with open weave fabrics like burlap you don't burn your finger tips, but you also don't have to deal alot of excess and annoying strings of glue on the project.
And here's the finished project. Isn't it cute!? I leave it right there in the corner of my workspace. Anytime I am working on a craft project I toss the little bits and pieces into the can. It helps my workspace stay clean and clutter free! Enjoy!
