Working on a Family Canvas Home Decor piece has been on my "to do list". Well I finally decided who I would make it for and made the time to create it! I used the Silhouette Portrait again to cut out the crab shape as well as all of the text. I love that machine. It is so precise and excellent.
I first began by mixing a bit of my own custom color of paint. I did about two parts Calypso Blue to one part Light Buttermilk Americana acrylic paint by DecoArt.
I then used a full sized paint brush to dry brush the color onto the canvas. I didn't dip my brush into the paint, instead I used the bone folder I mixed the paint with and applied a tiny bit of paint to the end of the paint brush bristles. I then set the canvas aside to dry and washed my brush while I waited to be sure all of the paint came off easily.
Next I cut out all of my shapes and letters using the Silhouette. I used the Dot Glue Runner by AdTech to adhere all of my letters and shapes to the front of the canvas.
Once my shapes were placed on the canvas I cleaned up my workspace using the Glue Runner Eraser. It takes up any and all excess glue from my space so I can continue with the next step.
After cleaning up the workspace I turned the canvas over and pressed and burnished the entire front of the canvas to be sure all the little shapes and letters held well.
My final step was to use the Precision Pro Hot Glue Gun to adhere the jute rope around the top edge and I was all done! I hope you have enjoyed this project!
Thank you to AdTech for sponsoring this post and for making wonderful products for me to work with!!!
